This is an Intermediate 3 workshop geared to intermediates looking to build arranging skills. The workshop runs from May 4-June 8, skipping Memorial day and takes place from 6-8:20PM, Eastern. No worries if the time or day doesn't work for you--it's fully recorded, and as long as you download them by the end of the course they are yours to study and use FOREVER. You have full access to me to answer questions regardless of whether you are in attendance in-person or not.
I will choose two tunes, one slower and the other more uptempo to use as a vehicle for arranging. When you are done with the course you will have not only two fully arranged pieces, but more importantly, the skills to arrange other music with confidence and flexibility.

Beginners 101 is designed for both new and shiny beginners and those of you who have been beginners for a while and would like to move forward. We will meet just over 2 hours per week for 5 weeks and cover topics such as:
Fun tunes to get you started--How to tune--How to learn the map of your dulcimer--Hammering technique--What are lead patterns and why they matter--Dulcimer ergonomics to avoid fatigue and injury--How to get the best sound out of your dulcimer--Simple Chords, what, where, and how.
We'll also be learning tunes both by ear and by music, and I will be providing resources to help you along your journey and use after class has ended.
No worries about conflicts/missing classes as you will receive video links to download each week so you can reference and re-watch the class easily!

This Intermediate/Intermediate Advanced arrangement showcases this lovely Greek hymn celebrating the New Year with beautiful variations on the melody and in the accompaniment. This tune uses hand separation, so if you're not familiar with those skills/need work, I strongly recommend using the hand separation exercises on my YouTube channel, Tina Bergmann Hammered Dulcimer, to prepare.

This arrangement of the classic Irish waltz "Southwind" is geared toward beginners. It begins by adding simple chords, then progresses to three different section endings, touch notes, and broken chords. Technique guidance is provided, as well as a midi audio recording for reference.
